Provider 71A Transport

The Provider is the UNDF primary transport class, it provides heavy lift capability to the UNDF fleet who before had to rely on civilian ships under contract. The Provider classis is based on the SUP (Standard Utility Platform) that forms the basis of the current generation of UNDF support craft. Some ships have been fitted with worm drive to become the Skytrain 131A. 

The ships will receive their MULE upgrade between 2126-27 which includes e-Core engines. They are expected to be replaced in the second half of the 2130s.

River 75B Utility Transport

The River class is an improved version of the Friendship mid-sized transport for communications and liaison duties operated and owned by the NS in a joint contract with the UNP to support smaller colonies. They were upgraded with HS-602CMi engines (speed boosted to 550c) and TPM-VLS in 2115.

Proxima Centauri 42A Light Combat Ship

When the Starsystem 91B training ship fleet (originally the frigates of the DDS fleet in the 2090s) approached the end of their fatigue lives NS made the surprise decision to extensively rebuild the ships as Light Destroyers. An NS source said the Proxima Centauri gives NS a ship that has "90% of the capability of an Isometric for 60% of the cost of a Corkscrew".

It is planned to withdraw them by 2130, probably replacing them with the Advanced Rome 216A.

Black Triangle 126A War Fighting Ship

The Black Triangle is a new concept warship which was jointly developed by NS and MBO. The ship is small and optimised for war fighting. It has only the most basic crew facilities to save mass and size, the ships were to be supported by a dedicated carrier. Each squadron of four being supported by a Rainbow 166A tender. The UNDF cancelled the programme after just four being built.

The Rainbow 166A is a support tender for the Black Triangle 126A, each tender supports a squadron of four Black Triangles providing the crew facilities the small warship lacks. It is another ship based on the Friendship platform. Only one has been built due to the cancellation of the Black Triangle programme after just four were built. 

The ship will be converted into a Sparkle elint ship in a few years.

Mariner 56A Light Patrol Craft

The Mariner was designed to replace the legacy UNP Space Patrol fleet which had been transferred to NS but needed replacement. Before the first ship could enter trials NS decided instead to build a development of the Pentekonter, the Protector 57A, for the role. Mariner was completed and originally was to become a trials or research ship but after excelling in it's trials NS has decided to build a series fleet of it to supplement the Protector.

Quasar 15A Strike Bomber / Command Ship

The Quasar 15A was the first of the DDS' "Generation 3" spaceship designs at the dawn of the 22nd century. Along with the Isometric and Velocity the Quasar introduced new standards of design and performance way beyond earlier ships. The Quasar was designed as a cruiser and be the pinnacle of the fleet.

When the DDS moved to the heavy destroyer design such as the Panther the Quasar was considered out-of-date - some were sold to the Raegris and there was a feeling that all might be retired, however the new role of strategic bomber proved to be the perfect fit for the Quasar with it's large weapon carrying capacity. 

The survivors of the once much larger Quasar fleet are now the core of the NS bomber force and also have a secondary role as command ships. Three ex-Raegris Quasars joined the fleet in 2125, however the ships will be withdrawn from service between 2128-30.

Nectar 52A Medium Combat Ship

These ships are the backbone of the MBO fleet, nimble and powerful fighters. Twenty have been transferred to the NS fleet. They have been modified for NS crews and for integration with the NS fleet. The last few ships (from 52-112) were to the Nectar E standard with twin Zip cannons, 48 cell TPM-VLS, passive sensors and other updates. 

DF plan to withdraw the ships from front line service but keep a small number for use in the aggressor training role.

Classic Rome 46A Light Combat Ship

The Rome was a development of the Pentekonter 44A light patrol ship with greater firepower and performance. It is equipped with a modular mission compartment meaning it can be quickly fitted out for use in a number of different roles including ECM/Elint, ground attack and reconnaissance. They tend to be used in a utility role to support the destroyer and patrol fleets.

The Rome 46K sub-class were dedicated VIP ships. They were fitted with extra C3 facilities as well as improved crew quarters. In 2123 they were converted back to standard Romes, though retain the C3 facilities.

The Rome fleet was upgraded during late 2119 and 2120. Rome Intermediate Life Update (ILU) included the worming of all ships. New Proton RM-01GX e-Core engines (with H-scoop integration) replacing the original Hitachi HS-760GX-200s were fitted, as well as Z7t cannon and other system and tactical updates as well as life extension and refurbishment work.

Isometric 41A Medium Combat Ship

The Isometric is one of the most popular ships in the fleet. The design was part of the DDS "Generation 3" family of ships along with the Quasar and Velocity and proved itself very quickly with the production order increased. It has also led to four other versions of the Isometric platform.

The Isometric is a tough ship with good performance and versatility. An Isometric has served as fleet flagship in the past. Currently 41-103 Jurassic is the flagship of the VP (Ops). The Isometric undertook it's Initial Life Upgrade (ILU) in 2109.

Multi-Update Life Extension (MULE) began in 2123. The update include Proton RM-01KE e-Core engines, TPM-3 support and the removal of Pave Yellow. The ships are likely to remain in service until the mid-2130s.
